Re: Best type of snake, in your opinion?
My favorite snakes to keep currently are Bull Snakes and King Snakes. I'd also really like to care for a Jungle Carpet Python and the ultimate serpent IMO, an Eastern Indigo.

Re: Best type of snake, in your opinion?
This is a really hard poll. I voted for Boa's because I only have Boa's at this point. I would love have hognoses, kings, carpets, indigos, and aussie pythons though. Not a venomous guy... don't have the balls.

Re: Best type of snake, in your opinion?
Very , very hard to choose, as I currently keep Sand Boas, Hognose , Ball Pythons and a BRB. I will admit though, after Sand Boas being my number one favorite species to keep, Hognose have definitely overtaken them because of their "personality".
Feeding time with my Hognose is so much fun, open the tub, and out their head pops, waiting for me to offer their prey to them. Most times most off their body will come right out of the tub to grab their food, lol

That's hard. It's a toss up for me between boas and carpets. I prefer the more slender size of the carpets, but I like handling my boa more, she is so gentle, even with the kids pawing at her. I think it's a tie for me.

Same here. Those are my favorites, but I only want one snake at the moment and I chose my little Costa Rican knowing that, so I voted boa constrictor just for him.
Love the name, BTW.

Re: Best type of snake, in your opinion?
I think everybody can guess how I voted. But, I don't think there is a "best type" of snake. There are just some that fit each of our personalities more. But I love them all.

I can't decide. Not possible. I'm enamored of them all.
My first snakes were rosy boas and I love keeping them because I lived in their natural habitat for a number of years. One of the localities I own is literally down the street from where my dad lives. That is super neat to me. I love their easy going attitude and sluggish way of life, except when they are starving. Then they are restless. SO HUNGRY! THEY ARE STARVING!
Then came sand boas. Nat little critters similar to Rosies and Rubber Boas (native to the area I live in now) in how they evolved but also very distinct in their own way. Very cool how they are so elegant in the way they move through substrate. I'm particularly interested in acquiring an Indian Smooth Scaled Sand Boa.
Then I got a milk snake. So pretty! Very different personality than what I'm used to (my small boas).
Last came my Taiwan Beauty Snake. She is fun to watch. Very, very fast, alert, and shy (but not aggressive at all). Complete opposite of my Rosies. She flicks her tongue slower than the others which is fascinating to me.
But, but, but....... when I think of all the other species of snakes I still get excited, because I can always see something in them that is unique to them that is just awesome.
If I had the space, time, and money I would have tooo many snakes. And if my state allowed it I would be interested in elapids and rattlers.

Re: Best type of snake, in your opinion?
I agree, too hard to name one. If subjected to the desert island test, as in if you get left on a desert island and could only have one, I'd probably go with the Trans Pecos ratsnakes. I've been keeping them for 20 years now and I still can't get over those big inquisitive eyes.
