Vietnamese Blue Beauty

I saw one at a snake show, and I am just interested in them, because they looked really cool and exotic. I couldn't own one now, but just something to keep in mind for the future. I think they're a rat snake? but I'm not sure. Do you know anything about them? Or have some interesting information about them, or even a care sheet?

Re: Vietnamese Blue Beauty

The care is similar to other beauty snakes. The are the largest in size, some growing over ten feet. Known for having quite an attitude, but I've handled many that were easy going. I think it depends on Captive bred or wild collected. They are eating machines like most other beauties. Semi arboreal, they like to climb. Keep your hot end about 83-84 and your cool end in the low 70's (room temp is usually fine). Too hot and I've noticed they can get nippy. Awesome snakes though. Like most beauty snakes there are very active and make a great display snake.

Yeah, what he said^. They're nippy no matter what temp kept at but can calm down with age. I miss my VBB, sold him when I downsized to move.

I also agree with IW17. I have a Taiwanese Beauty and while he isn't to nippy he is very flighty. He has calmed down quite a bit over the last few months but I don't expect he will ever be as easy going as my New World Rat Snakes or Kingsnakes. Still a beautiful animal and fun to work with.
