They're a member of the mustelids family: weasels, ferrets, otters, wolverines, minks, etc... They're an extremely smart group of animals. I like to think of them as the mammalian equivalent of varanids. Smart, extremely keen predators, great at making burrows, etc..
A really cool relative to the badger is a least weasel. They're the size of a mouse and feed mainly on rabbits. Rabid little balls of cuteness.
