Baby BRB

I ordered a baby BRB. I have a cage all ready to go for him but I have one question. He's currently on F/T hopper mice according to the guy I bought him from. I have 100 frozen rat pups and fifty chicks. Can a baby BRB take rat pups? I don't know exactly how big he is yet, I only saw an online photo of him, he's under a year old, though. I really would prefer to use up the rat pups, instead of having to go out and buy hoppers and have the rats sitting in my freezer being useless.

Re: Baby BRB

I would say no, if it's a baby. Just keep them frozen and they'll do it fine later. Mine is almost a year and is eating adult mice right now. A rat pup will definitely be too big. Look at my photo albums and see how big my BRB is. It's still too small for rat pups too, in my opinion.

Re: Baby BRB

My three month old BRB eats pinky rats, it's really depending on the size of the snake.

Re: Baby BRB

Depends on what your rat pups actually are. The breeder I get my mice from, rat pinks are rat pups or a little bigger. Don't be to worried about the prey size though. I've given my rainbow rather large meals at times where they were double his girth. Think he prefers bigger meals. When I first got him, my local pet store gave me small adult mice that I gave him. He took but once I realized how big they were I took him off to rat pups.
