Handle-able?

Are carpets handle-able? No matter how much I read on them, I cant find one thing about it! No pics with hands in them either..Well, thanks!

Yepperz they are!
Babies can be nippy, but most can be quickly tamed down with frequent and gentle handling. All of mine are puppy tame. JCPS tho tend to be nervous.

Sweet! I might think about getting one, they hard to care for? I would imagine that they require high humidity...

Hi,
They are pretty easy to care for! Depends what SSP you get, but I find Irian Jayas to very simple and fun to keep. I spray them 3 or 4 times a week and it enough.!

Check out www.moreliaspilota.com for more info, and there are almost more caresheets in the "links" section.

I like IJs the best because they are best for tempermant (except coastals, but those get very big, 10ft+) are a mangeable size (4-6ft) and are very pretty!

Good luck finding one, I'm sure you will be very happy!

Actually I posted some pictures of my friend handling my carpet python when I first bought her about 4 months ago. I handle my carpet python 3 or 4 times a week. She was a bit nippy for the first 2 weeks I had her. She hasn't even hissed at me let alone bite me in the last 3 months. I am very happy that I chose a Carpet Python for my first snake. She is fun to handle, a great eater, likes to climb and will actually sit on her hide as much as she hides in it.

Good Luck

I so so love Canada. ... anyways. ..

I think I have some pics of me handling an IJ too.. lemme check.

<IMG SRC="http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/626jakebday.jpg">

I only put my hand there for kinda a size reference but as you can see he could care less, even though I'm touching his tail (tail shyness is one of the things that takes a little more time to overcome.)

lol, I agree I've only seen babies be nippy at the herp shows, and of all the morelias, I'd say the best bet is also the IJ, they're pretty and easy to care for. no comment on mary either.

The ball python of the morelia world, or even better, has got to be the Irian Jaya. They tame quickly, rarely go off feed, accept large meals and are easiest to switch to rats when the time comes. And quite simply put, the GTP is the only other Morelia you will find that beats out the dramatic and awesome colour changes an Irian Jaya goes through in the first few years +.

Carpet pythons are an amazing species from a greatly desired Genus (Morelia)... and Irian Jayas are like the crown jewels.
