CANHerp is a really dumb name IMO. But, perhaps others like it.
Hope it is going to be run by general reptile keepers and not breeders and pet stores. The Canadian reptile community is already being destroyed by breeders and pet stores who think they run the world running things.

It's being spearheaded by Grant Crossman et al.
I spoke at length with Marisa at CRBE (Marisa as in mod on RC) and yes it's basically going to be the Canadian version of USArk. Interestingly they are also putting together knowledgable (herp) lawyers who are available to members if we are harassed unjustly by any level of authority.
Marisa told me about someone in the SWO who recently had a "raid" on his perfectly legal collection simply because a someone with a wild imagination complained he had a house full of snakes and that individual felt afraid for the safety of their family.
That guy got his animals back. As a CANHerp member you make one call and you have knowledgable lawyers helping you out.
That in addition to having a regular voice in the media, assistance in local council as needed, etc.... Well worth the yearly fee.
Hobbyist 20 / yr
Accredited 100 / yr (for those with a breeding collection)
Store 150 / yr
She did tell mention that if you are found to have broken any laws or the CANHerp code of conduct (it's sensible) they will not help and go after the member for any legal expenditures. (Makes sense)
If it ends up being what it sounds like.... We should all be members.
