Providing day and night temps

So I've read online that you should provide different temps with day and night cycles. Is this a necessity? I am currently providing a warmer day with a basking of 90-92 and a low of 80 and a night temp of 85 warm side and 78 cool side. This is the information I've got from care guides, but I want to know if this is something that is a must or not? Are there any negatives to not providing a difference between day and night?

Re: Providing day and night temps

its not necessary but I find my nocturnal snakes to be more active( hunting) at night when the heat goes out. When I used to leave the heat on all the time, my snakes would just stay in their hides.

Re: Providing day and night temps

Well unless your house is very cold at night have the corn snakes heat go off at night when their light goes out and on when it goes on in the morning. My gopher and king don't do much after dark. Dusk yes but blackness is rest time but my carpets are very active at night. In the morning when the lights come on my vivs read a degree or 2 above room temp. In the winter I regulate my snake room temps so it's only a few degrees cooler at night.

Have you seen any issues with keeping a consistent temp over a long period?

Re: Providing day and night temps

Also, my BCI is constantly sitting in her warm hid. The temps reach about 91 in there, shouldn't she leave it to go to the cool side sometime? Should I raise the temp to see if this helps?

For the sake of questions, I'm using a digital thermometer to measure the heat. And a Thermostat. The thermostat is not a proportional stat though, could the constant raise and fall of the warm side be what's keeping here there?

No, do not raise the temp. it could cause a disorder. Its better for you to let your boa decide which side she prefer. And about your original question, I have seen no problem on getting a constant temp for day & night.
