Next snake choice?

So I was thinking about the next snake to get (it wouldn't be very soon. I think the very soonest would be Christmas:P) But I'm having trouble deciding. I like to do research beforehand so I don't mess up, so I kinda want to know your opinions. I originally wanted a BCI of sorts, but then I looked into ball pythons. I love them, but I read a lot about health problems and eating problems. I also hear people have 0 problems with them! And then there's the notorious corn snake. I love corn snakes, but I'm not sure why! ...And last but not least I saw western hog noses. Man, they're gorgeous but I haven't done a ton of research. So yeah I'm just curious about you're opinions about any of these or if you have other suggestions!

Re: Next snake choice?

You'll like any of them. If it were me getting a new snake, I would get a Bci( I like Bci over bcc), carpet python, or a large species of rat snake.

I have a carpet right now, but I was thinking about a jungle also. I love bci's too. Big, but not unbearably big. I'll look into rat snakes too thanks for feedback.

The first snake I wanted was a BCI but my baby needed a new home fast and for a cheap price so we took her in :3

Re: Next snake choice?

Ball pythons are great, as long as you have proper husbandry there shouldn't be any issues. That goes for every snake

Ball pythons and corns are very common, and for that reason maybe getting something a little different might catch your eye? Hognose snakes are pretty cute and very easy to take care of. Plus they look different and I don't find that there are as many compared to some.

As for boas, Brazillian Rainbows are beautiful! They do like higher humidity levels though so just keep that in mind.

If you find that the common boa is too large you can also opt for a dwarf: Crawl Cay Boa, Caulker Cay Boa, Pearl Island Boa, Corn island Boa, Sonoran desert Boa, Costa Rican Boa, Central American Boa, Nicaraguan Boa, and Hogg Island Boa. Just make sure to do your research and if it's a perfect fit, go for it!

Thanks! I do love BRBs but I don't trust myself to care for it well enough yet. I love how cute hog noses are. My brother said they're like the pug of the snake world ahaha. Thanks for the help. If I could get another snake right now I would, but I just got mine about a month ago and still need to get completely comfortable with it!

I started to look into them today, what kind would you recommend? There are a ton of gorgeous ones, but I haven't looked at temperament too much yet.

I'm partial to Cali Kings and MBK's but the Eastern Kings are awesome too. They're great eaters but still pretty docile when it comes to handling. Neither of mine have ever struck or bitten me but I did get musked once or twice when I first got them. Now they're both super tame. I think they make great snakes for beginners and experienced keepers.
