best places to herp in Oregon or Cali?

Hello, everyone. I have done pretty much nothing this summer and I am not letting it go to waste... I am going to plan a trip to southern Oregon and/or California. I was hoping people could recommend some areas to herp or some tips on finding things. I went down to the little river close to my grandfather's house in hopes on finding a few garters or something and that got me into field herping. Anyways, any tips would be appreciated very much and I will get plenty of pics and videos for you

I will probably try and go in August. Hopefully the weather isn't too crappy in Oregon at that time.. rtye warmth here comes late, and leaves early :/

You're probably going to have to stay near the coast in cooler weather. It's just too hot during the day here. I've only seen a couple at dusk on cooler days.
