two questions about corn snakes.
Hi, everyone. One of my friends own a few corn snakes and he didn't mention that until I mentioned that I just got one on the fourth. Anyways he said that his 3 footers are all around 500-550 grams. Mine is 2'6" at the shortest, probably 3'6", and 4'0" long at the most... haven't measured yet.. but mines 170 grams. Is that under weight or is that fine? Also my second question... the snake has been really great and VERY tame since I have gotten him/her. However I fed it on Saturday and he's been rattling at me every time I am close to the glass. I understand that he's digesting, a little slower than usual, and probably feels a little vulnerable, but why's he only showing defensive behavior after eating? Think he's still on the hunt for food? That'd make sense if he's/she's under weight as I thought.

Re: two questions about corn snakes.
I have an adult believed to be about six and two three year olds. The younger ones are almost as long as the adult but much much smaller round. I dont weigh my snakes so not sure of hpthe relative weights

Thanks, man. I don't know a whole lot about corn snakes. Most of my knowledge is my Ball Pythons. I didn't know that they are around the same length when they are young. That helps a lot thanks again, man.

Re: two questions about corn snakes.
I only have 1 corn and he's a big boy, not sure on weight as I don't weigh them either.
But as long as you feed the appropriate size I wouldn't worry.

Re: two questions about corn snakes.
If you fed your guy a larger meal, he could just feel vulnerable. Does he have hides and cover?

Yup. Two of 'em. I also put in hollow PVC pipes leading to each hide to see if he'd use them. They aren't clear so I thought it'd offer a more secure feel and he wouldn't have to check choose between properly heating himself and feeling secure. He's in his other hide. Idk if he used the pipe.

Re: two questions about corn snakes.
I did the math in my head and then used a calculator... 6 ounces = 170.097 grams and that video proves that my scale is almost 100% accurate.

Re: two questions about corn snakes.
He just looks so big in your pictures. My 2 foot long perth pythons way 100 and they seem tiny in comparison... oh well lol

I was pretty surprised when I first weighed him, too. So does anyone have a guess on his age or just his health based on length - weight?
