I was wondering the same thing. I can't imagine it holds moisture as well on its own.
It's always fun seeing argus eating, thanks for the video.

Rabbit warren soil/ river bed soil, it is a very poor soil that holds burrows well, it is 70% just above ground level in there with that sandy soil like it was.

It's wet down once a week which takes it back to 80f just above ground level & 80% humidity, the viv is 10x4x6 high ( pitch roof), you can't see the rh side floor but that is kept wet all the time.

In the middle there's a large nest/dig box that she backfills her burrows into & backfills her self into each night, there's previous pics back down the threads.

theres humidity levels from 50/60% upto 100% & temp ranges from 79/80f to 100f (higher shelf) & 140f surface temp ( can be increased).

the soil will start to look more like it when i've added a foot of oak leaves this year end.

there's been a cabbage leaf in there since sunday am & it's still green at 80f.

her cage set up has enabled her to go from about 16" to 32" in 12 weeks there abouts, her tail is around 22" long tip to vent.
Ply is 8" long, large ply is 24" wide (610mm)

ply screwd to back wall

This may put your mind at rest, i put a cabbage leaf in on Sunday am (for the crickets inside) by Friday it was going yellow so i took it out to see what moisture content it still had, cage is wet down once a week.

5 days>

Very nice. It can be hard to find sand that holds moisture or burrows well on its own.
