Mice size
My little Zazu (savannah), has been eating mice maybe once every 2 weeks and night crawlers the rest of the time. Her weight looks much better, I think. Shes eating hoppers right now without a problem.
Shes about 19 inches now, do you think she can eat an adult mouse? Or is that too big.
Also I finally found her a bigger cage, cant wait to pick it up this weekend!

Re: Mice size
Hi, why are you only feeding earthworms with a small mouse every two weeks or so, that is an awful diet for any Varanid!?
To answer your question, yes, absolutely do try a full grown mouse (f/t or f/k), Varanids can swallow prey larger than most lizards without any problems (just like snakes).
Can you show a few photos of the monitor? Thanks!

Re: Mice size
Can't imagine if you kept including crickets in the diet they would contribute to any sort of obesity...there is not much 'roughage' in a diet 95% earthworm.

Re: Mice size
Can you show photos of when the monitor was supposed to be "too fat", and when were the above pics taken, and how do you know this is a female?

Re: Mice size
I was told in one of my other threads that she was too fat. You being one of the people that told me Quote "I think the animal is a little on the heavy side just now (not very badly)."
SO I was told to switch up her diet. Which I did, but now im going back to more of a variety.
I dont KNOW its a female. I call her a girl.... I dont think there is any harm in that. She looks more like a lady to me.

Re: Mice size
This is why I won't get a monitor at all. When people are asking for help, they get it laced with criticism no matter what they do. I'm sorry, just saying...
