Snake Poo?

Hello, SsnakeSs. I know this is a silly question, but I have to ask it... I just changed my snakes enclosure up, a little, and I put him in his carrying box/temporary box. When I opened it I saw a little white popcorn looking thing laying there, and it had little specs of brown in it. The reason I am asking what that is, is because I had him popped today, and I don't want his organs falling out or something (Being a Noob + Being Paranoid don't mix :/)
I haven't seen his, or my Garters poo yet, so I do not know what it looks like. Thanks, Everyone!

Re: Snake Poo?

it sounds like a bit of urates. When snakes eliminate, you will find a large, brown part (poo) which is varying degrees of hard/soft, a runny liquid (urine), and then a white, hard, crunchy/pasty bit (urates).

Snakes eliminate urates because this helps them to conserve water during the long periods in between meals. Many snakes will poop several days after meals, but they may produce small urates frequently, every few days. the urates can range in color from white, to yellow, to pale green, though any color that isnt white should prompt a thorough once-over of your husbandry.

Havnt you had your garter snake for over a month now? and she hasnt pooped yet? Did she ever drop a bunch of babies for you? and is she continuing to eat?

She's eating normally, she did not have babies, and I was using reptibark for her, so if she pooped, It probably wouldn't have been easily spotted (Just switched both of my snakes to paper towels).

Thanks, man! I wouldn't have been as worried about what it was, but the snake was popped like 30 minutes before I found that, so I got a little scared. Thanks again, though!

Re: Snake Poo?

That certainly seems like a lot of voiding for a King. My Retic does pee alot, but then again he drinks so much water. What about your king, does it drink alot?

Re: Snake Poo?

my king also seems to eliminate very frequently (my female only, for some reason). my male will have one very very large BM a few days after feeding, maybe 6 days? my female seems to have 1-1.5 BMs/week, but they are significantly smaller than the males (the snakes are the same size). My corns poo every other week, as does the honduran milk snake. The rosy boa is maybe 2x a month.
