branches

I put fresh aspen branches in a tank with my snake without removing the bark. Now my question is: will the aroma of the fresh wood harm my snake? It smell nice to me but then so does fresh ceder. Its probably a dumb question but there it is anyway.

I would sugest baking them in the oven first ,if you got them from outside. They could have bugs inside the wood, other than that aspen should be fine..The only dumb question,is one that is not asked

i dont think the aroma will do any harm.. and it will eventually go away... like Crazykeeper says, baking it would definatly be a good idea, it will kill all bugs, bacteria, and parasites.. I bake all mine at 250F for 45 minutes to an hour after completely wrapping it in foil. The "fresh" smell stayed, my house smelled like a campfire for a while.... just be sure to monitor it while/if you bake it... in the case of something catching fire i couldnt imagine trying to explain that to the Fire Dept.
