Actually, they are becoming less popular these times... other animals ( smaller and more suitable animals for beginners ) take their place. In fact, i really don't think iguanas are good beginer pets...

i agree
I get 10 sick iguanas for every other herp i see
pet stores dont know how to care for them let alone tell someone else how to
So i eventually see them in terrible shape & sickly

Yeah, well almost 80% of the iguanas that are sold come back to the pet store within two years... Not only very bad herping, but very bad business also... Thats why i NEVER sell iguanas in my store department and i never even trade them in. The iguana market is a considerable part of the WC market too, and that's no good. I just hate it when i come to work in the morning and we find a big box with a dying sick iguana in at the front door... It happened a couple of times and it is really a shame for people who sell such animals to such irresponsible buyers!!!

There are some very huge iguana farms in central america, but i really dont think that they produce such a big % of central america's iguana shippings... I spend my time telling people not to buy those because only a few persons really have the room and time to care for them and they often end up aggressive or stressed because of enclosures that are too small for them... Please, folks, get water dragons instead...

Would you guys eat herp meat??? I would... And i would be pretty curious to try some south american, asian or african, or any other herp receipe... I've heard croc meat is pretty good too...
