If they have eggs firtalised or not they are gravid soo yes they will

Ya they show the same gravid colours weather their fertilized or not at least thats what they did for me.

ggod luck with the infertile eggs. ONe thing i must mention is to not feed her too much. Feed her about 5 to 7 crix aday lightly dusted with calcium.

Getting a female to lay infertile eggs can be really tricky. Every part of my set up is spot on temps, humidity, hiding spots, lay bin, lighting. And still I am on my second female with infertile eggs. And so far its been just over a month that she has been gravid.

Now with everything else spot on the only thing i can think i did wrong was feed her too much. According to chris anderson if she is fed to much she will jus keep producing the infertile eggs inside of her to the point where there is too many to calcify, and she becomes egg bound.

I have never had issues with laying infirtal eggs, it dosent matter if they are firtal or infirtal if they are going to have issues with laying it wouldent matter if they were firtal or infirtal it would happen.

Well I have been told differently. How do you feed your gravid females collide?

To be honest I find that my female stops eating completely when she is at a certain gravidity point (if that is a word?). Maybe one or two crix at most.

When they stop eating it is usaully a sign that they are going to lay soon. Pacing the bottom of the cage looking for a site to lay is also a good indicator that she will lay soon.

my girls eat approx 5-8 crix every two days, i keep it the same when they are gravid unless they look unusually hungery i increase there dusting from once a month too once a week (only give D3(miner-all 1) once a month use miner-all 0 for other dustings) if i feed them other items crix get reduced. if i were to quess at where your problems lie i would go to either laybox issue or in your case possible over supplementing. I have no way to know but from hearing all your stuff over the last few months that is where i would peg your problems. In my case i have the entire bottom of the cage as a lay area so they can just go lay when they want sometimes i cover the cage depending on where they dig as to not disturb them. this is all approx as i dont keep a jurnal of amounts ect... also all my feeders are gutloaded. again id look into the lay area. Oh and in reality firtal eggs are slightly bigger and slighty harder so they would have more of an issue with firtal. problems with egg develepment firtal or infirtal is a sighn something is wrong and my first place to look would be with suplementing this is just my opinion though.

Ok so oversupplimenting will cause her to not calcify her eggs? Why are people telling me to dust daily when she is prego?

Also my lay bin is pretty big and of the right consistancy for laying. It takes up almost 1/4 of the cage bottom.

But if she is not calcifying eggs the lay bin is the least of my worries.

in a way oversupplimenting can cause problems in many areas and when egg time comes around it can causes issues. ill look at the other post
