Exclamation Lets Go Shopping!

putting together a list of what im going to get when my check clears.

im getting an ultratherm undertank heater 11x11.. good brand? i heard they cant get hotter then 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

But i need to know, what brand of thermostat do you guys use? I dont want to buy a crappy one!
& what about a digital thermometer?

and what substrate do you use? currently im using reptile carpet, but i want to make it more comfortable for them.

Re: Lets Go Shopping!

not familiar with rat snakes, but I use aspen for my corns, and garter...eco-earth for my rainbows, and a mix of aspen and repti-bark for my ball python...

thermostats? I use hydrofarm thermostats...I got mine off of ebay for about $30...amazon also has them for a dollar or 2 more..ebay was free shipping...

Re: Lets Go Shopping!

i use ultratherms and they are a good brand.

I use herpstats(herpstat, herpstat 2, herpstat 4..etc)

You can also use helix and vivarium electronic thermostats.

If you are on a budget you can get decent on/off thermostats such as hydrofarm.

Hydrofarm MTPRTC Digital Thermostat For Heat Mats:Amazon:Patio, Lawn & Garden

I use these as well. They are defiantly not top of the line but definitely get the job done!

I don't know about herpstats and other high end ones, but hydro farms are very easy to use. Have 3 buttons, the top one you hold to set the temp you want and use the other two to go up and down, very easy. One thing I would suggest is to take a few different thermometers with probes, I've found that mine will read off occasionally. 2 degrees off is normal for mine.

Re: Lets Go Shopping!

Does anyone know how many heat sources one Helix DBS-1000 can control?

Re: Lets Go Shopping!

I have one of these and it controls one heat source. I do not recomend them at all. Mine is on its 3rd probe. Although they replace it I have to pay shipping and use a backup while I wait so now it is a backup.
