Which snake was this?

This snake showed up on our door step ... any ideas which one it was? We're in Atlanta GA.

I've heard that there are Copperheads in our neighborhood .. not sure if this is one.

Any ideas on how to keep them away from the home?

That is a very harmless Storeria Dekayi (Dekayi brown snake) they live in gardens and eat slugs and snails. They only get 18-20 inches maximum and have a very pleasant personality. They seldome even bite when picked up. (not sayin this is a universal law, I have picked up hundreds and I think only two showed attitude)
