Let my BCI exercise a bit... a few pics

Trying to get my snakes out for a bit of exercise lately...it's cold in Okie land, so they have to get their work out inside. I snapped a few pics. Thought I'd share...just a plain old BCI, one of the most docile snakes i've ever had.

Really pretty! How long and how old? Male or female? You never said. The pattern is really clean. Yours doesn't have near the amount of speckles my girl has.

And yeah, it's cold here. And I hate the humidity in the winter. It's too dry and I'm being shocked by everything. I already have a fear of electricity and this doesn't help Not only am I getting shocked, but everytime it gets cold (since it's been getting warm for a few days then hella cold again), I get nose bleeds. My system isn't used to having a dry winter.

I know you're north of me, but are you having any heat or humidity issues? I was having humidity issues but I got some new tubs and put less holes in them so I fixed that lol. I bump the heat up a couple of degrees in on the cold days as well. It kills my room humidity even with a humidifier, but I try to not get them out on those days either unless someone's made a mess of their tub. Then it's done quickly. I also haven't gotten them out as much since it's so cold here. I wait until it warms up. I'll be glad when it stays warmer. I miss working with them like I have been.

Re: Let my BCI exercise a bit... a few pics

hey rogue! yes...it's really dry. i was manually misting every day, but that got really old and with my schedule, became kinda hit and miss. about 2 months ago, i picked up an eco-terra monsoon mister. it has 2 separate hoses/nozzles so i san put a hose in 2 enclosures at a time. right now, i have a bank of 4 display enclosures, so its fairly easy now. i set the monsoon timer for 120 sec to come on about every 6 hours and just let it go. the hygrometer reads btwn 50-60%. i can adjust higher or lower as need be by altering the spray time or the cycle time.

as for sex of the beast, it was billed as female. i haven't probed her yet (as i stated in another thread, i'm chicken....i need to get over it.....i just don't want to hurt them )

thanks for the kind words, i think she's pretty as well. "she's" approx 4.5 feet now and when i got her last year the vendor couldn't really say how old definitively, i'm guessing somewhere in the 2-3 (4?) year range?

That's a really cool idea but I have more animals so I don't think it would work too well for me. I've pretty much got it under control now. I'm only misting when they're in shed and only once a day. Having a lot less holes in their tubs help immensely. I still have a couple of tubs I need to change out, but the animals that are in those are doing fine.

Your girl sounds like mine. I thought yours looked as big as mine. I got her last February and she was sold to me as a female. Since I have no intentions of breeding, I leave it at that. lol Since my girl is the same size as yours, they're probably the same age. I thought mine was younger but when another boa keeper saw how long she was, he told me she had to be older for her size.

Your girl looks really nice though without all the speckling. It makes my girl look like she has freckles lol
