Opinion on Backwater Reptiles
I sure do a lot of these...
But, I was considering a viper boa from their site.
Does anyone have any experience with them?
I've heard good and bad, but not much about them recently.
-Thanks

A good place to check for breeder/store reputations: Board of Inquiry® - FaunaClassifieds

Re: Opinion on Backwater Reptiles
I have never done business with them, but I've heard a lot of bad reviews, and it's worth noting that they do not even have the animals they are selling. They have someone else send you the animal instead.
I personally would not buy from them. The way they run their business just sends up too many red flags for me, coupled with a decent number of bad reviews. I know one individual who bought a gator which arrived with fungus on its leg..

Re: Opinion on Backwater Reptiles
I checked their website, and they don't even have a phone number to call, just email and fax. Then they give some BS explanation about how they're an internet-based business and it's to save money so they can provide lower prices.
They also have absolutely no warranty. You get a dead or sick reptile, sucks for you. So yeah, I wouldn't dare deal with them.

Re: Opinion on Backwater Reptiles
I know you didn't say anything negative but we have a rule against stuff like this.
This is copied directly from the rules page.
No "naming names". This is not the C/BOI, please refrain from mentioning individuals or business names in negative light.

Re: Opinion on Backwater Reptiles
Ah, my bad. I'm somewhat aware of the rule.. as I came across it awhile back.
The only reason that I had dared to ask was because their site made it seem like more of a corporation than a personal breeder's site.
But, I'm definitely going to veto this one, sorry for any disruption.
I'll check the fauna's next time.
Cheers.

Actually, I was expecting good reviews and replies towards the company when I first posted.
I wasn't aware that they had... faults.
Still. My bad, won't happen again.
