Exclamation Urgent!!!!!

My hissing roaches have mites!!! I recently bought a new female and they must have come on her and spread to my other two. How do I get rid of these little monsters without hurting my roaches? I've never had this problem before. I put my roaches in the basement so the mites don't spread to my reptiles. I'll be washing my hands and arms every time I touch them too.

Re: Urgent!!!!!

How about you do some reading and see if these mites can transfer to snakes?

Rodents have mites but they don't affect snakes. Could be same deal.

Re: Urgent!!!!!

Aaron is right... small little bugs in the roaches is kinda normal really.

I have little bugs in my roaches too... Think about it, there is food, water and warmth in your roach enclosure, The roaches are not the only ones who enjoy living in those conditions.

I get fruit flies in mine from the bananas I feed them.

Reptile mites cannot exist in a roach colony for very long, so I doubt you have reptile mites in your roaches.

Re: Urgent!!!!!

Are you sure? I examined each roach and the mites seemed to have attached themselves onto their belly right in between all of their legs. The male has the worst.

Re: Urgent!!!!!

I'm still going with the fact they probably aren't reptile mites if they attached themselves to roaches. Reptile mites like reptiles only.

Like I said though. DO SOME RESEARCH on the mites you see. I do not for sure what kind these are.
