Does size matter for a retic?

So I just bought a cage that is 8x3.5x2.5 for $20. Epic deal. Now, someone said because it's so big, it may make Pajamas start rubbing and make him insecure...Plausible? Load of hooey? I plan on putting 2 flip up hides in there and some silk plants to give it some cover while he's still smaller...but i want to know if i should just divide it off at 6 ft and use the extra 2 ft as storage.

Every snake i own bar my GTP went straight into an "adult" size viv, just provide "secure" areas where they can hide and they seem to do fine.

Iirc in the wild they tend to not have nursery areas

Reticulated pythons are very active snakes, and generally the more space you can give them (within reason), the happier they are. Just make sure you give lots of hides. You don't want to give a tiny hatchling an 8-foot cage right away, but a 5-6 footer would probably be fine moved into the adult cage.

How large is Pajamas?

I think thats the perfect size for the snake. Add a hide if you need but it will be fine

Pajamas is pushing 7 ft right now =3 thanks for all the mature answers =P I got it from a guy who bought a storage unit, and this was inside...he's not a snake fan, but knew there was someone out there who could get use out of it, so he put it on ksl =3

at 7 feet he should be just fine in that size of a cage. I wouldn't have passed up that deal either!

ksl is like craigslist for utah and idaho =3 it's in good shape...but needs some work and modifications ^-^ it's going to go in the living room now (cause it doesn't fit anywhere else xD), so we'll have a nice display with silk plants, branches and of course, him ^-^

Okay, so here's pics of the monster! it needs to be cleaned, sanded, stained, sealed, and some other personal modifications. The food door is going to have two hinges instead of the one, and i have to make sure the screws don't poke through. going to either put vents in the two holes, or seal those up and put my vents on back (opinions?).

(those cords are heat rocks, which will promptly be thrown away, along with the dish unless someone here wants it)
