Bad days to good ones!
So last week I went to the pet store to pick up Tinkerbell my bp's live food, as usual. Well while I was driving home the mouse got out of the box!! Then I couldn't find it in my car! (Eventually I did, it died from heat exhaustion under my passenger seat). So I was pretty fed up with live food; going to the store evverrrryyy week gets a little more tedious than you would think (especially when the workers aren't all that peppy), the fact of larger live food scared me for the safety of my snake, it did make me feel kinda bad cause their cute, and it's more expensive. So here was the ultimatum Tinkerbell was either gunna give in or starve! (not really I would never starve my snake, but you get the point, I was going all guns out)
SO, today was the day. I asked the petstore if I could have a little bit of the mice bedding so it would have the scent of the live mouse on it. I got the frozen food, thawed it in warm water and blow dried it on hot so it was nice and toasty. To my embarrassment she struck it immediately. I guess I give up to easy lol.. but I'm very happy.
Also, I know I should have her on rats asap but since she would only eat live food i had no choice because the pet store only has huge adult live rats. Now I will try switching her to rats haha.

Yup, you're headed in the right direction with f/t
Sad that little mouse had to die that way though

Dont worry, there is no reason you should have her on rats. Its easier for us as keepers to do so, but there is no nutritional difference/deficiency you need to worry about. Get around to it when you get around to it.

Re: Bad days to good ones!
woohoo! Cool, life will be easier for both of you now! How are you thawing the frozen food? Just curios. I take room temperature water and let it soak, and right when it's thawed i'll give it a burst of hot water to give it a little heat. Don't want it to cook though.
For my little critters i thaw it, then stick it on a heat lamp for a minute or two just to get the outside warm for them : )

Re: Bad days to good ones!
I know I hate that the mouse died for basically 'no reason'. I thawed the mouse in the bag in warm water and then I blow dried it for a couple seconds to heat it up. It worked like a charm lol.
