Question Question about cleaning enclosures?

Hey guys I have read everywhere that when ur snakes does its business in its cage you are supposed to clean it out right away. Ok makes sense. How do you guys actually get "it" out lol? What do you pick it up with?

That's what I was thinking It's basically just like cleaning up any other animal's mess. I'm sure paper towels will work just fine.

Re: Question about cleaning enclosures?

I never thought about "how do I remove this", it had hardened and was all together so I just reach in with my hand and grabbed it and thew it in the garbage then washed my hands well with soap. The second time it was a bit wetter so I used a piece of toilet paper to grab it, then I threw it in the bathroom garbage can.

Re: Question about cleaning enclosures?

Both my snakes are on substrates, so I usually spot-clean by hand. I don't wait for the exact moment right after it happens, but I typically catch it within a couple days.

Re: Question about cleaning enclosures?

I just grab some toilet paper and grab it along with the surrounding bedding and throw it away, then just replace what I removed.

I never said i used my bare hands i was just telling you too !!!! Really its not too bad if its had time to dry and i only use TP cause its better to flush than paper towels .. You will get it all figured out soon .. And i use a vinegar water solution to clean with , im not sure about bleach but i know vinegar doesnt bother them . Take them out of course and clean the let it air out for a few minutes before returning them home ...

Re: Question about cleaning enclosures?

Depends on the size of the snake. For my Burm I use nitrile gloves and just start tossing out bricks one by one. Disposable, cheap and effective. I got tired of using a roll of paper towels for each cleaning.

For my rattlesnakes, a scooper with slots in it so the sand falls and the rest stays to be thrown out.
