Red eyed tree frog substrate

I was thinking of using a base layer of large pebbles, covered with a 2-3 inch layer of cypress mulch and then a 1-2 inches of sheet moss for my tank.

I am wondering if this will be fine and will I have to create a drainege system for it? Also I do not plan on using any live plants for the moment but will probably be changing over to them some time this summer.

Also does anyone no if those pre-made waterfalls are good at keeping up the humidity because my girlfriend really wants to put one in there.

Any input?

Thanks

When they are small i dont use anything, incase they ingest it. When they are 2"+ i use coco-earth or similar coconut husk products. I dont know about the mulch, but i can tell you red eyes are very sensitive so if it gives off any toxins (again i dont know anythin about cypress) it may make them very sick or dead. Hope this helps.

I have one of those pre-made waterfalls don't buy it. It is a pain to get out of the cage and clean. It has all of these little cracks and crevices that are very had to clean. It also has a large diameter cord that doesn't fit through the top of the cage with out leaving a gap. just my opion.
