Does anybody know if they changed the manufacturing process or something like that?

I remember a while back I could take a brick, toss it in a bucket with 1-2 gallons of steaming hot water and in under 15 mins I'd have a bucket of loose fluffy coco fiber ready for use. But it seems like the past 5-10 bricks I've made up over the past year don't do that. Toss a brick in a bucket with 3 gallons of hot water and wait a few *days* and the brick is still a brick, just 2-3 times larger and floating in the water that's left in the bucket. End up having to finish making it by breaking it up by hand.

Thinking of getting a different brand.

I used Eco Earth exclusively until recently when I switched to Repti-Bark, never experienced what you have described. In the tubs, Eco Earth held TOO MUCH humidity!

'Plantation Soil' is essentially the same thing, but it's quite fine. It depends on what you want to use it for, I suppose.
