Re: Hog x nicc cross
Very nice, congratulations! I wonder if the Hog Island part will keep her smaller than normal or not.

Quite possible, nicaraguan boas are typically a smaller bci.

Luna looks very nice! I love that stripe that goes on her neck to her head. How old is she?

Re: Hog x nicc cross
Thank you all! Its so hard to get herps off my mind cause nobody is really into them where i live so this forum is a blessing! She most likely will stay small but I wouldnt care any other way! She is only 3months now and just over a foot feeding strong on f/t rat pinks. Wait untill I get a good shpt of her underbelly! Especially under her tail! Rosy reds and high pink! Are hog x.nicc crosses common? I never see them and I didnt even believe her breeder at first haha but I saw parents and quickly bit my tounge!
she has NO additude once so ever..will that change?

It's uncomon, because IMO it wrong to distort the bloodlines.

Re: Hog x nicc cross
IMO I think its not such a good thing..but I didnt breed her I just care for her. Why are pdople okay with rats and corns crossing but not boas? Im aware of the controversy but I was told she was a hog.
only on the day of bringing her home did I find out she was a cross. She looked beautiful 2 me so it didnt change a thing but the price! $40 can you say WINNING! Haha no but seriously no breeding plans for her..i like having unique things. Hey are hog isles responsible for some boa morphs such as hypo and sunglows...? Thats crossing as well and just for a color morph and hundreds more dollars in price. IMO thats much worse

Re: Hog x nicc cross
I own a pure Hog Island boa, and while I understand the opposition to crosses, I had my own reasons for choosing a pure line. It was important to me that my choice of boa remain relatively small (I had a BCC as a kid that grew to nearly 8' - wife wasn't down with that ) and had a calm temperment (so far, she's been very sweet). So for those reasons, for me, a pure specimen was a necessity. But I have no plans on breeding her, as she will be strictly a pet for the whole family to enjoy.
I think the biggest reason many are opposed to crosses (and Hogs in particular), is the muddying up of pure bloodlines that are rapidly becoming extinct in the wild. And while I understand that, the reality of the situation is that this particular snake WAS bred (as are many others), needed a good home, and you are providing that. How could that NOT be a good thing?
Best of luck with your snake!

Boabari89, I agree with you. If you're not going to breed her, you love her, like her looks, she's your pet, etc, then I see no harm on your behalf. I know some people are sticklers about pure lines etc, but once the animal has been created, it needs a home. You provided that And she's gorgeous

I agree with this part but I also don't really like hybrids.
Imagine in a few decades it might get really hard to find a pure bloodline.
BUT, to the OP as long as you provide her a good home with no intentions of breeding you're totally fine.

I promise to post more pics of the little girl as soon as possible. Truth is, I am a HORRIBLE photographer, so I've gotta rely on the wife-unit for any decent shots whatsoever.
Here's another head/tail shot for the time being.
