Discovery networks AKA Animal Planet

A recent thread on our board has inspired me to start this discussion.

Has anyone else noticed how they distort the truth to gain ratings??

Some of the programs they are producing portray decent people in a negative way, they often present material that is so distorted it should be on the Sci Fi channel right after "Ghost Hunters"

Its a shame too, they show stunning animals in the worst way. One day, hopefully the Discovery networks will replace entertainment with education.

Re: Discovery networks AKA Animal Planet

I hate how they changed their motto to "Surprisingly Human"
I come to ANIMAL planet to watch animals, not humans.
If I wanted to watch a show about people, I would go to TLC.

I just checked the AP website. An episode of Swamp Wars is titled "Encounters with POISONOUS snakes" >_< SMH

Re: Discovery networks AKA Animal Planet

A perfect example of what that network is capable of, A good friend of mine was asked to show some of his garter snakes for a program they did called "Infestations"

Don is a good guy, and a an animal control officer as a career, so Don agreed to take his snakes to the shoot.

The producers edited and twisted the story around to portray garter snakes as an evil plague that drove a family from their home!!! and the only snakes they featured in the show were his PETS!!!

Youngster, you will enjoy this quote.

Swamp hunters hatched out a scale-less hognose snake. They described it as a Scaleless Hognose PYTHON! Episode 3 or 4.

I agree, it is upsetting when the shows/directors portray good people in a negative or irresponsible light. But these people are also trying to make a living. Sometimes their businesses are going under and they are lucky enough to get a show to help them increase their business so they can continue doing what they love.

DUH! what would anyone who buys a place next to a snake habitat expect?

People like that belong in the concrete jungle.

Exactly wayne... but because of their fears and not researching the area they see it as the snakes invading their home. Ofcourse people over look that the snakes were there first.

Re: Discovery networks AKA Animal Planet

I cherish my home that much more because of the habitats, I go after human trespassers to keep my snakes safe.

I look at it as a 40 acre enclosure, and the snakes that roam here are my pets.
