New Kiwi Pictures :)

I went over and saw Kiwi and Ashby this weekend. Kiwi is looking much better and I got to see him do a bit of hunting but I missed it when he caught a cricket (darn!) he's a cute little guy though!

Did you ever find out what those white spots were in the end?
He is so flipping cute. And so tiny!

Re: New Kiwi Pictures :)

Ashby and I think that the white spots were oodinium as the distilled water helped clear them away. either that or he was getting ready to shed, Ashby caught him opening and closing his mouth, which is what they look like when they shed and I read that they can get white spots before a shed.

He's honestly sooooooooooooooo adorable and tiny! he always looks bigger in his pictures but he's only a bit bigger than a toonie

Re: New Kiwi Pictures :)

I've never heard kiwi make a sound
The first day he was brought home he did some chirping, but since then nothing. A person that we talked to said that he might have been chirping because the conditions of bringing him home, travelling him, might have simulated his breeding conditions.

We are not 100% sure if kiwi is male or female though

Re: New Kiwi Pictures :)

Hmm questions: How big is Kiwi? about the size of a coin? Can you hold him at all?

You have to be very careful handling tree frogs as the oils on your skin can damage their skin quite badly.

I've never held him but he's about an inch, inch and a half. Ashby said he's growing really quickly though, which is why we are starting to think he is a she
