Another beautiful orb weaver spider
I know, I know, you think I have an obsession with spiders, but really I have only been finding spiders lately to take pictures of. This I believe is an orbweaver of some type but dont know the exact species.

When I was 9 we moved to Florida. I was running through the woods one day and ran into a banana spider and web…the spider covered my entire face, it was ON my face. I have been scared of spiders since, but it has become less over the years. I don’t scream when I see them but I will do the flailing drunken dance if I think one is on me…
The description for these pics from the website, this man is 100% correct and his description cracks me up:

These things are EVERYWHERE in Florida. And for persons such as myself who are abso-f*g-lutely terrified of spiders, banana spiders Are scary. Any arachnophobias who so much as steps into a wooded area of Florida is going to walk right into one of these rainbow demons. And when you suddenly become entangled in the strongest fiber on Earth and have a murderous spiky spider the size of your head running on your face making it worse, you will poop fear.

Re: Another beautiful orb weaver spider
I absolutely love orb weaver spiders! They are sooo beautiful and insane-looking!
When I was a kid, we had a huge garden spider, which we named "Trixie" that lived in a huge fern bush in the front yard one summer. I caught ants and beetles with tweezers to feed her, and watched her all summer. She laid an egg sac at the end of the summer and I watched the little ones fly away on their silk threads to new worlds...it was really a neat experience for a kid, and I'd love to have a garden spider show up again someday!

Love the banana spider pic with the hand behind it. it really gives an idea at sizes they can reach.
orb spiders are some of the most beautiful spiders they come in so many colors, shapes, and sizes.

Go tromping through the woods in May...not a "Nature hiking trail"..I mean TROMPING through the woods where you require a machete, 8 inch pocket knife, bottle of water, gallon-o-bug-spray..
You will run into one. Ask me...I know...lol
