Red face Little Foot

So a while back, on a herping outing, we caught a Northern Water Snake.
We brought it home with us, and at first only planned to keep it for a while.
I grew quite attached to the little guy and hoped beyond hope that I'd get to keep him. Stephan noticed that he must be mixed with something other than a Water Snake, he has the pattern of a water snake, but what he thinks is the head shape of a Milk Snake. It almost flattens out, and it looks a bit like a cobra. I think it's adorable.
It's been almost a month now since I've had the little guy I decided to name Little Foot. A better name for him would be Little Piggy, but I decided to just use that as a nickname :P He goes through about three 3" fishes every two days, and recently I've been able to get him to eat from my hand instead of having to leave them in the water bowl for a couple hours. He has no issue eating f/t either, and because we don't have to worry about his ferocious appetite I'm allowed to keep him

The pictures are of Little Foot about a week and a half after we got him.. He's grown a least half a foot since then

Re: Little Foot

I'll have to try to snag some more pictures soon
He's a quick little bugger, so it's extremely hard to get decent pictures from him unless he's in the mood to be still for 5 seconds :P
I'm pretty sure he's going into shed right now though, cause usually by now he pops his head out for more food, but he's been in his hide two days now and not coming out, so I'll have to wait till he starts to pop out for food again before I can get some more shots

Re: Little Foot

And stephan, I named him little foot, because when I was thinking of what to name him.. little guy was the only thing that kept coming to mind, cause that's what I called him while he was nameless. And I couldn't very well call him little guy all his life, especially once he got bigger.. So then it got me thinking of The Land Before Time... and why they'd name him little foot if he would get bigger feet once he got older, just doesn't make sense if you ask me.. So I figured since he had no feet and they couldn't get any bigger... and it was the same amount of syllables as little guy... I should call him little foot.. Plus I love Little Foot from the Land Before Time.. he's adorable :P..

Re: Little Foot

Wooooo he ate for the first time in a couple months wooot wooot !!!
Steph and I went out and bought some talapia (frozen) yesterday night hoping he'd be interested, steph had fed it to snakes previously and said it had always been successful... He took 3 pieces I'm so glad I was really getting worried about him.. he has a dry spot on his nose and he really just needs a good shed.. so hopefully he'll keep this up and be ready to shed soon..

Re: Little Foot

Nice lookin' snake. I've never kept a wild caught creature more than a few days. How quickly did he acclimate?

BTW, I LOVE the name! I had a baby sparrow I saved I named Ducky. It reminded me alot of Ducky

My daughter wanted to name my bp Littlefoot because of the way he holds his head when he periscopes....but I think all bp's resemble Littlefoot lol She still calls him Flathead sometimes lol

Re: Little Foot

I would be very inclined to say "he" is a she....

The plump body and wide head lean to a female of the species.

Re: Little Foot

I shall try next time to get some feeding shots... He's (or maybe she) is a really shy guy... the moment he grabs his food its back into his hide.. :P
And thanks... He's the very first snake that was ever mine I love him tooo bits but he worries me sometimes..
We plan to get deworming stuff for the wild caught animals just in case...

Re: Little Foot

It's been an extremely long time since I posted anything for this guy..
He stopped eating for a couple months so I left him to himself, but recently we brought home Talapia, and he seems to be crazy about it XD..
He shed once since then and is VERY much due for another.. I thought since I was in a picture taking mood tonight that I would try getting some of him.. He's really hard to get a good shot, since he's SO fast..

Well I hope you all enjoy these, (Most of them are blurry, but I still consider them worht it) since for the first time since I've had him, he musked on me XD
