missing day gecko...
argh!...last night i went into my herp room to find that my day gecko's (1.1 adults) had opened the cage and escaped. i found the male right away..he was sitting next to the tank...so i chased him up and down my walls for about 10 minutes and finally grabbed him...but he gave me a nasty bits and made me bleed a tiny bit...it hurt more than you would expect...so now theres one down, and one more to go..but she's no where in sight...its a small room...and the door is always closed..so she MUST be in the room right?....*buzzer noise* WRONG! we stripped that room clean and she was no where to be found...the only way she could've escaped was either the vents (which is super bad!..cuz she could now also be in the walls/vents) or when i opened the door to go in and get something..she could've dashed out..so i've been looking since then allllllllll over my house...my house is big (not bragging...i hate people who brag) it's about 6000 square feet, so thats alot of area to cover..to find a gecko thats less than a foot long...not to mention all the vents and crap...so i guess im just going to have to wait and hope to god she re-appears...i'm going to do what reverendsterlin told me to do and set up a plant with a water dish beside it and check it now and then...OH...and........shes also gravid!..she should have 1 or 2 eggs in her tummy too!...if she lays em somewhere in the house..phht..they'll just die and wont hatch ....so yeah..im mad/sad...and i want my baby back!!!!! ..lol
thats my story,
Ryan

when i was a little kid i had day geckos, house geckos etc.. being a kid you always make many mistakes..... and well one thing leads to another and you find the geckos behind paintings on the wall. Every time one escaped id find it behind the same painting, i suppose its an elevated hide spot? Check behind anything you have hanging up.. I always found my guys in places you least expect

Hey everyone,
WC, I keep 3 Day geckos myself.
While ive not had them get out i do have an idea...
Leave the lights on in just one room near there,or even try just one lamp also.Since they are diernal they may be attracted to that room/light.
Also you could try putting a loud cricket in a box near that light
Good luck finding the little wall crawler

YES!...today i didnt go to school..i went out to help put up a sign with my dad (thats what my parents do) and when i came home my mom ran out and said "day gecko day gecko!!!" so i ran upstairs and there she was, sittin' on the wall IN THE HERP ROOM...so she never left the room!..so i grabbed her and she didnt bit me!..unlike the damn male..grr....but the wierd thing is...is that i strip searched that room, we moved EVERYTHING and checked every single side of every object etc. so my guess is she did go in the vent..but came back through today...must have..either way...shes back home safe..and still looks gravid!..yipee!
thanks for your advice and concern,
Ryan
