Not sure what to do!

Ok so today i am going to petsmart to pick up a new bigger/better enclosure for my carpet. I was also planning to feed her for the first time today. My question is in what order should i do these things. Feed first or introduce new habitat first. Should i maybe just feed her tonite and set up the new tank in a couple days after digestion? Let me kno wat u guys think!

Re: Not sure what to do!

If you can wait a week or two, i'd get the new set up first. You don't want to risk stressing out a newly fed snake. That could lead to regurgitation and other issues. Obviously try to duplicate its current temps and humidity.

Put her in her new home, while she is chilling, thaw her food. Offer it to her nice and hot. You'd probably do better getting her home at home depot, than petsmart. Except the heat that is. But in my experience, All of my snakes except for one has eaten on their first day with me with no problems.

Re: Not sure what to do!

hey im new too, and the way i fed my first time just two three days ago, i put him in a huge rubbermaid container one that i can see through, its like a 40 gallon rubber maid container, you dont really need one that big, but i put him in there first and used some tongs to hold the mouse and placed it in front of him. suprizingly he jumped right at it no prob. i watched him do his work and once he was done i tipped over the tank into his regular tank and put him back in his regular habitat. as far as which to do first, i would feed him first since he will already be out of his enclosure im guessing unless you feed him in same tank. then introduce him to the new habitat after eating. but if you feed him in the same tank as he sleeps in, then i would introduce him to the new habitat second still because im sure he would want to feel safe with what hes about to digest, would kinda suck to be full and cant move and scared of your surroundings, im only guess on that one, btw as i said im a new snake owner too, this is just what i would do

Re: Not sure what to do!

Thanks for the input bro. No offense but i think i will attempt the suggestion of the more experienced owner who posted above. I appreciate the advice though. And congrats on Hydro's 420 shed. He must want to look good for his big day

Re: Not sure what to do!

I won't get into the whole feed in a separate enclosure debate except to say that I don't. And it works, the snakes that I have that are aggressive are aggressive no matter what, and my docile snakes are docile no matter what. But, to the op, your plan is sound to me. You may have to taunt her with it a bit. Let us know how it goes!
