Royal dead.

Hi everyone just found One of my young royals dead. Looked like he was starting to shed and he got a load of substrate in his mouth.
Poor little thing.
That's just life i suppose.

Re: Royal dead.

Condolences mate. That is rare. Royals are such hardy animals. Something underlying had to be at fault.

Re: Royal dead.

I have had this same thing happen with baby garter snakes, they get the mouth full of substrate during the final moments of convulsing (death thrashing)

It sucks, and there is nothing you could have done, something neurological I assume, because at the end, they lose motor control.

is it possible that he was rubbing his head on things to get the skin off and just got a mouth full of substrate and couldn't recover? or do you think it had a fatal issue beforehand?
