Re: tank cleaning question

It may bother him, but it shouldn't harm him. I give my snakes baths every 6-8 weeks...some of them hate it, some of them love it. I found that my JCP actually loved her first bath the other day!

Be careful with water temp; snakes are very sensitive to extremes...what may seem nice and warm to you could be excessively hot to the snake. If it's too cold, they will hate it and you run the risk of getting your snake sick.

I let water stand for about 30 minutes and just prior to giving them a bath, I throw in some warm water. It feels cold to the touch, but homeostasis keeps us at a nice 98.6 F; an 80 F bath might feel cold to you, but that is great for most snakes.

Good luck with the JCP and the bath

Re: tank cleaning question

I use reptibark, i spot clean as soon as poop/urates appear. I add in extra substrate once "holes" appear or the snakes move it around and leave spaces. When i first got the snakes every three months i did a 100% clean out, now as long as i keep up with meticulous spot cleaining i am thinking maybe once a year i will do this.
