Tegus

When the wife and I get our reptile room set up, we were thinking about getting an argentine black and white tegu to act as a garbage disposal for refused rodents. Does anyone have any experience with them? Specifically their eating habits? I know they eat a lot, and grow fast. I know they eat fruit and meat. I'm curious about the do's and don'ts of feeding them. What they can't have, and how much they eat.

Mine loved cantaloupe and strawberries in addition to 2 rats a week. I will advise you that these guys are almost like having a dog. Very active animals that need lots of exercise and a big cage
