Re: Cirano, my Brazilian Rainbow Boa
How do you measure her? An eight foot rainbow boa would be close to a record I think.

Re: Cirano, my Brazilian Rainbow Boa
She was eight foot two inches last time I measured her and that was about a month ago. I lay out her shed skins and measure those. She is huge for a Rainbow Boa, I`ve never seen a bigger one. She may well be a record breaker......

Re: Cirano, my Brazilian Rainbow Boa
She certainly is a beautiful animal. To my knowledge though, measuring the sheds isn't an accurate method. Only due to the fact that they usually stretch. There is a program somewhere online, I can't remember the name, where you take a pic of the snake from a birds eye view coiled up. It then marks down the back of the snake and gives you the length. There's also the string method, where you take a piece of string and line it along the back of the snake.

Re: Cirano, my Brazilian Rainbow Boa
Measuring the shed is not accurate. I have had my male jungle give me 9 ft sheds. He is less than 6 ft.

Re: Cirano, my Brazilian Rainbow Boa
I thought you`d say that... lol In my snake room, I have two sets of four foot tanks which are side by side giving me an accurate eight foot of tank. The only way Cirano can be straightened out is to let her go back into her enclosure on her own and then straighten her back end out. She straightens out as long as my eight foot of tanks. She is an eight footer, I know what an eight foot snake looks like lol I assure you, I am not mistaken, Cirano is just over eight feet, which I`m aware, is huge for a Rainbow Boa.
I can`t recommend them enough Marvelfreak, they`re such a beautiful snake.

Re: Cirano, my Brazilian Rainbow Boa
I wish I`d have bought a larger male now. The male, "Jaffa" is ooooh about two feet or so now, I have a photo of him actually hang on....
That photo was taken shortly after I bought him. He`s even more beautiful than Cirano! But yeah... It`ll be some considerable time before I can breed them. Still, too late now, I`ll just have to wait He`s just about ready for a bigger tank and they do tend to put the weight on once they can take bigger food don`t they ! Hopefully it won`t be too long. If I had the room I`d get another male but I haven`t, not for another "wet" snake anyway. Yep, a very very beautiful species.....

people who do things like this make me sick with rage, they are nothing short of being complete scumbags.makes it all the worse it might be a fellow snake keeper.there was a guy on a uk forum just before xmas trying to track down £28,000 of high end boa's.they were stolen from his custom made snake house in his garden.poor guy took a lifetime to build his collection, then some scumbag goes and does that.sorry for ranting but it really gets to me that people can be like that.
feebo thats one monster of a brb.definately the biggest ive seen and pretty with it.
cheers shaun

Wow, she is beautiful and quite large! Very nice BRB. And Jaffa is quite handsome as well. Looks like he'll be a good future mate for her!
