If i mated a het Caramel Albino male with a Spider ..... what would i get in a Clutch?

100% Het Spiders / 100% Het Caramels - (normal looking)

or

would i get a mixtured of both?????

Spiders and hets?

i looked at R. Davis matrix but i still can't figure it out
any help would be nice....

I would think you'd get 50% het spider/50% het caramel albino or spider 50% het caramel albino, depending on the spider parent's genetics. I don't think spider and caramel albino share genes. If you are breeding a 100% het albino to another morph, the offspring will all be 50% het albino, because they have a 50/50 chance of getting the albino gene from their het parent. As for the spider, the spider gene, it is dominant, so a spider parent could be either het or homozygous. Therefore, if the spider parent is heterozygous, it will still show the morph, but the babies have a 50% chance of getting the spider gene; if the parent is homozygous, all the babies will appear to be spider.

Kimberly is mostly right. Noone has proved out, to my knowledge, of any homozygous spiders. So what the average outcome would be with 4 eggs from those parents would be:

2 spiders het for caramel albino
2 normals het for caramel albino

thanks for clearing that up for me.....

i want have to have a caramel albino so bad but can't afford it.... so i figured i could take my sons spider and and mate it with a het caramel.... and then use the offspring to mate later on to get my caramel albino.... it is a long shoot but it is better than the fighting with my wife spending $1500 to $1800 on a snake.... lol

That would be a long term idea.

If you breed a het caramel albino to a spider the outcome from a 4 egg clutch would be: (also note that this is just average. You could end up with 4 spiders or no spiders!)

2 spiders 50% possible het for caramel albino
2 normals 50% possible het for caramel albino

It just means that you'd need to keep all the babies and do breeding trials to figure out which ones are 100% het for caramel albino.

yeah i probably just have to get a pair of 100% het caramel albinos and just go that route. that would give me a 25% chance which betters the odds....

I believe males can breed once they are producing sperm plugs. Generally their second winter. From what I gather a female should be at least 1500-1800 grams, usually in her third winter, even bigger is better. There are many exceptions to every rule but, I think this is a good guide line.

Just to clear things up, as a lot of info both right and wrong has been posted up to here.
spider X het caramel will give you:

50%: spiders that are 50% possible het caramel
50%: 50% possible het caramels

As for breeding; females need to be at least 1500g. Males need to be producing sperm plugs, usually around 600g.

I think it's usually three years, but weight and length are more important. From what I've read (I haven't bred pythons yet) they need to be at least three feet long and around 800-1000 grams. Someone who has breeding experience can please correct me if I'm wrong.

i think a 100% het caramel albino x spider would would give you 25% chance of normals, 25% chance of spiders, 25% chance of het caramel albinos and 25% chance of spiders het caramel albino for each egg.

if you already have a male then go get a het caramel albino female. you will have a 25% chance per egg at a hatching a caramel albino.
