irridescence on red tail?

Today I noticed that my guyana red tail has irridescent ventral scales. I never knew they had this quality. Can anyone enlighten me? Is this a common trait for all bcc or just certain locales? Took me by surprise, its something I really admire in brb's so it was nice to see my boa has this!

Yve,

All BCI and BCC carry a certain amount of iridescent to some degree. I find that it's more pronounced with BCC, especially when they're young. The older and larger they get the less the iridescent shows because of the larger thicker scalation.

Keep posting pics of that beautiful guy. You'll get the hang of it. Have you considered purchasing a digital camera? They work exceptional!

Take care,

Darren,
I absolutely have considered getting a digi cam.....and will get one by the summer. At this point I'm just shopping around trying to find one thats fairly decent but not super expensive....I've been looking at some pics. on the 'other' photo forum and am sooo ashamed of mine!lol! The sooner I get one the better....I'm going up to the Bruce Peninsula this summer and a wealth of herps await me to photograph! If you can recommend one, that may help my search!

Yve,

A great digital camera is the Nikon 950. It retails for $450-$500 and is one of the best investments I've made. Most of the pics on my web page are taken using this camera (I still have to get used to it) If you would like any suggestions feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Darren Hamill
