help lost ball python 7 months

i recently got a ball python from my friend as a gift. she was 5 months old and at the time i could not afford her. she lived with my friend in his cage with his female ball python. i just moved her in about 4 days ago and she managed to get out of her cage. im in my bedroom and once i found out she was out of her cage i lined the bottem of my doors with newspaper and duct taped it on so she couldent get under it (rollled up newspapers taped to teh bottem of the door so it covers the small space under the door and the floor) i found out she was gone at about 130 in the morning last night. i stayed up till 6 am tearing my room apart trying to find her. ive cheked most of the places i think a snake might want to be . i even had my friend sleep on the floor so his body heat might attract her. the only heatsources are my bed and my computer. im using an old hunters trick for snake catching and i placed a bowl of chickens blood in the dark spot under my computer desk. the problem im having is my room is always dark and very cluttered so theres millions of places she could be. how do i find her? i think im gonna put in a heat pad under my bed then jsut check there often. my doors never iopen unless someones coming in or out so i dont think she will be able to leave my room. but im still worried because my brothers a jerk and said if he find her he'll kill her. please help me i gotta find her before he does.

On a different forum, someone suggested turning the AC up and making it a bit chilly. Place the heat source and a hide somewhere easy to get to. The snake will probably make its way to the warm hide.

Check around the cage. Run away snakes can be found very close to home at times.

Huh! Who knew! They are so anxious to get out, just to go back home! I have heard of some getting out to go climb up the entertainment center and watch the television. They certainly have ideas of their own.

Cool Re: help lost ball python 7 months

I don't know if Balls are at all like Hog Island Boas, but mine had a habit of slipping away un-noticed four or five times in the early days. She was actually never more than about 6 feet from where she should have been, but boy, could she be hard to find. Try looking behind books on a book shelf nearby, tucked in behind furniture, coiled round the back of a plant pot...
Good luck...

Re: help lost ball python 7 months

This happened to me on the 2nd day I got mine...
A friend of mine found her in a drawer where I keep my pants in my house, but at the time it was hilarious because I had to go back home (I was at a festival) because my friend would not touch it. At all. Not even go near it.

Look in places you wouldn't expect it to be, such as in a drawer (like me) or in a dark space that's enclosed.

Re: help lost ball python 7 months

Hi,
I truly hope that your brother didn't mean what he said.
I have a bp too. It's surprising how small they can make themselves. Try looking
in places that you might think are too small for your bp to fit. The AC trick sounds like
a good one to try!
Best wishes
Kenny

Re: help lost ball python 7 months

there was a post on here when i first joined the forum about this and there were some really good ideas in it. try searching the forum.

my cousin had a bp about 15 years ago and it got loose and found it in his sister's underware drawer about a year later.

Re: help lost ball python 7 months

Too funny. I posted recently on a thread that was begun back in July 08 and I hadn't noticed; now you guys are doing the same thing.

Kyloth lost the snake back in Aug. 08. Kyloth, if you're still around, would you update us regarding your snake? Did you ever find her? Was she OK?
