Getting to know you....

getting to know alllll about youuuuu....

LOL!

I would love to know more about everyone! I know the primary purpose of this place is ofcourse to discuss the hobby, but I'd love to know who I am talking to better.

I'll start!

I am Artemis, a 28 year old woman, dreading getting older. I live in Northern Virginia, which basically sucks. I do live west of all the hubub and am more of a country girl at heart (though please do not confuse this for "redneck" which I am not)

I am married to a wonderful man who is supportive of my love of animals, though he doesnt share it, sadly. I still have yet to get him to hold one of the snakes, he is so afraid of getting tagged, it's hilarious. I have 2 kids, 9 year old girl and 2 year old son, and they are also enamored of my snakes. I love teaching them and watching them learn. I love animals in general, and in addition to my 2 ball pythons, have 4 cats, and a nano reef tank. I have kept all kinds of animals over the course of my life, and it is a big passion of mine.

I went to Virginia Tech, (GO HOKIES!), though left before any of the recent drama I am sure you all have seen in the media. Very sad. It's a scarier world every day.

I am a 90's child and love alternative music, but I think I am a reincarnated hippie and I love music from pretty much the late 40's on. My Ipod is an eclectic mix, to be sure.

I have a very sardonic sense of humor, and I love stupid adult cartoons, from Family guy and robot chicken, to dramatic movies and tv shows, like law and order or intervention.

My fascination with snakes started in a most ironic way. I was bitten by a copperhead when I was 8. It was a juvenile and I think the cat had been messing with it in the yard.. I had gone out barefoot to play, and whammo. It pumped every drop of venom it had into me. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. Snake bites were so rare, especially on the east coast, I had doctors fly in from all over the country to check me out. I was not given any antivenin as the bite was on my foot and I was so young... I came out of it fine, but I can tell when it's going to rain in my foot to this day, and I can congratulate a copperhead on my first trip. CRAZY hallucinations I had. In addition to vomiting, necrotic vein death, and not being able to walk for a couple months without crutches. Since then, I have learned a lot about snakes and conquered any underlying fears. I love my BP's and croon at them like they understand me....

I know people on here are mostly canadian, eh, but I dont mind... we us people have to get our dose of canuck somewhere.

Someday I'll hit Vansterdam for a mini vacay... as soon as its in the budget, which might be never

So now its YOUR turn, tell me about YOUUUUUU!

heartie... artie

Heh.

Ok, me!

I'm Erik, I'm in Portland, OR (yes, it's raining right now).

I hart my herps. I could know more about them, but I figure something else out everyday, so I presume when I'm nearly 150 yo, I will know it all.

I've been to VA, up near Princeton, WV and through to NC. Nice place. No problem keeping humidity up, huh? I mean, eh? Love the scenery.

Ahhh, the west coast! One of these days I am gonna get out that way! I long to see the pacific ocean! Is it dry there? Humidity here is average... now FLORIDA is practically a steam sauna!

Re: Getting to know you....

Some of you know already who I am..

But, for those of you that donīt, hereīs the true story..

My name is Miqe Erikzén, a.k.a "Miqe Morbid" or "Morbid" on the internet. I was born 1966 in Uppsala, Sweden. I'm married to Thess since 2001 and I have a teenage daughter born 1988 from a previous marriage and a daughter born in December 2004. We all live in a small village right between Uppsala and Norrtalje called Knutby in Sweden.
Working at a concertefactory.
I've kept herptiles since the mid-80īs, but then I didnīt keep any venomous reptiles but animals like the American Cornsnake and similar European snakes. The European herpetofauna has always fascinated me, and the interest for this geografic group of herptiles has been growing over the years. So now I only keep European herptiles.

The interest for venomous snakes has always been there but I thought that I didn't have the nessecary experience to keep any until late -90īs. In 1996, I got my first "hotsnake", a Vipera aspis.

I also run a website, that is all about European herptiles..

For the moment I keep:

Snakes
Vipera a. ammodytes
Vipera orlovi
Vipera renardi
Vipera nikolskii
Gloydius halys caraganus
Zamenis situla
Elaphe quatuorlineata muenteri

Lizards
Podarcis siculus (cettii)
Timon lepudus
Podarcis pityusensis kameriana
Lacerta agilis
Podarcis milensis

Amphibians
Hyla arborea
Bufo calamita

Thatīs it for now..

OOh cool! Sweden huh! Is a concerte factory a place that makes pianos?

I dont have the fortitude it would take to have venemous, but if I ever did, I would want a weglers temple viper. Being in Europe, I bet its much easier to get one!! They look like snakes from medieval times, or the garden of eden or something.

Congrats on your marriage and children. I am dreading the teenage stage already! My daughter is hard enough to deal with at 9!!

"concerte factory" is actually spelled concrete-factory.. My bad...

Thanks. The teenager is big enough to babysit the youngest, so..

Awwww! Its funny to be the woman in the marriage who loves the reptiles. Dh is just not an animal person like I am, but I do all the care taking, except for occasionally getting him to scoop the catbox, so he tolerates it

Re: Getting to know you....

Cedwards....it's snowing??? It is not snowing here.......yet.
I am Shannon and I live in Ontario. I have Kept reptiles since I was 12 years old. I have always liked them though. When I was young I used to catch all the garters and frogs that I could. My mother used to hate doing my laundry for fear of what I may have in my pockets. Over the years my collection has grown and I love every one of them. My boyfriend also has no love for my reptiles...except for one female BP named Dizzy. For some reason he likes her. But as for the rest of the reptiles he wouldn't be sad if they were gone. I wish that he would share my interest but I don't mind that much as long as he puts up with it!

She has a fat tail gecko and I ordered her a bearded that is a snow hypo snow x leucitic clear nails. I am hoping she turns in to a reptile nut like me then she can work in our Exotic pet store.LOL that will be another few years.

Smile Re: Getting to know you....

My turn,

I am Harold. I am 40, married, 2 daughters (13,10). I am French.
We moved to Ireland in 1997 for a job. Worked in Albuquerque,NM in 2002, then back to Ireland. We moved in Utah last august. I do maintenance on machine for the semi conductor industry.

I got Sssamy 10 days ago, ball python (female?). She is about 2 feet long and 100 gr.
I have always been fascinated by snakes, and this year, for the first time Myriam (my wife) said I could have one.

At home, we also have a guinea pig, a chinchilla and a cavalier king charles.

Wife and kids seem to be more interested, not dicusted anymore.
Sssamy had 2 fuzzy mice tonite, and each time it was a show that no one wanted miss.

I am extremely happy that my bp is eating fine.

I also like photo, I would like very much being able to shoot a rattler in the wild (I have seen them in NM and TX, they are very impressive).

Re: Getting to know you....

My name is Lisa and I'm 38, turning 39 soon after Christmas. I am married with two daughters, one in 7th grade and one in 8th grade. I kept many herps when my kids were little, but for personal reasons had to cut down on the collection. The only herp now is my blue tongued skink Bubba, who has been with me for 8 years. I'm really missing my herps and would like to get one or two more at some point. My main passion though, without a doubt, is dogs. I have worked in animal rescue (both shelters and private rescues) and really love all animals. Besides my blue tongued skink, I am owned by 2 dogs (soon to be 3) and 2 cats. I work part time at the local elementary school and right now am counting down the days until winter break.

Oh Oh My turn!

My name is Jenn, I'm 23 years old. I have been into reptiles for as long as I remember, but other than Red Ear Sliders I didn't get my first reptile until I was 16 years old. After her, I was hooked.

I am currently a full-time student in the Environmental Technician program at Canadore College. Once I have completed my diploma, I will be attending UVic in BC to complete a degree in Biology.

Currently living in North Bay, ON. It's cold, snowing and there are wolves after me....ok maybe not the wolves...

I work at the local Pet Valu that sells supplies only and also as a Data Entry technician for the Ontario Clean Water Agency. I'm single mostly due to the fact that I have no spare time for a human pet in my life LOL

Hmm...yeah that's really all I can think of. If you want to know what I keep look at my signature because it's constantly changing/growing.
