Panther Chameleon

I'm getting a panther chameleon at the start of September. It's a 3 year old male comes with a 4'H*3'l*2'w cage, bunch of live plants for it to climb, a UVA/UVB bulb, heat lamp and bulb, a humidity reader and a thermometer. It feeds great on crickets, some silkworms, the odd waxworm and sometimes other bugs. It's in great health and I've seen it and it looks great. It's unusually friendly which is nice. Any suggestions on care and other things I need. I got a dripper and a spray bottle for humidity. Any help would be great.The best part is it's all for free. I'm going to see him tomorrow so I'll post pics then.

Great deal. Good luck with him. Just make sure the cage you're getting isnt an aquarium. They do best in an all screen enclosure.

Not to be a downer, but I wouldn't buy a 3 year old chameleon. The lifespan of a male panther, from the research I've done is anywhere from 3 to 8 years. If your husbandry is correct, and he has good genes, you can expect to have him for up to another 5 years. If he died in the next year, it wouldn't be too surprising.

My male panther i 5 with no signs of getting old at this point im sure he will get a few good years outa him, make sure you read alot on chams they are a hard lizzard to care for even for experienced herp keepers

Adults are better for beginner chameleon keepers, they are going to be more hardy and you haven't got to supplement practically every meal because they aren't really growing any more. I'd say he/she is doing the right thing!

No I'm getting a mesh cage since I went there yesterday to help out with her animals Here's a photo of him Anyone know what locality he is I would love to know. And he's actually 2 years old not three.

whats the absolute best begginer chameleon to start with?? Ive kept a veiled a while succesfully and a fischers that died on me.

the fischer was probly wild caught, thats why you had a hard time keeping him, i dont know of to many captive bred fischers in canada. What you want to try next would be the panther

As crazy as it may seem that's not his best colours a few months ago he was fully fired up in breeeding colours. My parents won't let me spend a bunch of money on another cham the only reason I'm getting it is because it's free. So no breeding eventhough it would be cool. Stinking parents!!!!!!
