be more specific about the enclosure. Are we talking an actual cage here? It would really depend on how low your ambients are, too. Give us more details....

I'll show you a picture of my cages. I want to use a heatpad against the background to increse the ambient temp because it's to low i think (76F)
At the moment i'm useing two heatpads under both hides.Hotspot is set 92F and the cool site 82F and the ambient is 76F.But now i want to replace one heatpad of the cool site to the background so i can increse the ambient to 82-85.
Do you think that's good idear???
I realy apriciate your help.
Thanks Ray.

well i dont see how a closed in enclosure ( i could see a screen one do it) could have an ambiant of 76 but a cool side of 82.. before you jump to any conclusions get a digital thermo.. and gt rid of that stick on one... crappy and dangerous...
my ROOM temp is about 70 all the time.. and my cham cage ( totally screen ) with only a basking light ( and uv) heats up to 83... so if you have that kind of a range in a vented wood enclosure i dont see how your ambiant could be to low.. unless your room is at like 60 all the time..
just my 2 sence.. make sure your thermos are working properly before you go moving things around...

Yeah, tough to have a cool side of 82F, but the ambient air temp is only 76F?? That's weird because the cool side is usually the SAME as the ambient temp.
Other than that, its DOESN'T MATTER HOW you get the ambient temp up. Just do it. If you have to put a small heta pad on low, then that's what you have to do.
Cool cage though. Well-thought out to serve exactly what a BP needs! Good stuff!

@peterm my room temp is around 73F. The two heatpads under the hides can't make it warm inuf to rise the ambient to 81-82.
I use 3 different thermometers.but you can only see the one in the picture. So i'm sure the temps are the same as in the picture.
@Jeff do you think it's no problem to use one heatpad against the background??
And what if i must turn the background heat up to 95F to get the ambient temp right??
Jeff i still remember your words Get your setup right before by a bp.I know your right but i never thought it would be that hard to get it right.pffffff.
I realy apriciate the help guys:thumbsup:
Thanks Ray.Ps Jeff thanks for the compliments on the cage.
I built 5 of those cages.

No worries Ray.
And as long as the temps and humidity are within the REQUIRED range, it DOESN'T MATTER what you do with that heat pad in the back. If it gets to 100F, 60F, 95F, whatever.

@Edmond.
I realy didnt expect that i would be so grazy about Ball Pythons.lol
But i can tell you it was realy hard to get the ball python Dvd here in europe. The ball python manual was no problem to get.
I realy love to build my own cages.Infact i build all my (bearded dragon )cages before i started with Bp.
But if i had the space i would also build some racks. But who knows mabey in the future if i have a house with 4 bedrooms
Edmond i realy love to see the pictures of your new cages when your ready building.
I also will post some pics of my rat racks today.Actualy they look more like rubbermaids lol. They are special made for rat breeding only i don't know the english name lol.

thanks for the pics Ray, it seems to be a very good system, How many snake now? Do they like gerbills?
I never think that your English is not good at all. We have a lot of different culture people live here and speak a lot of differnt style English and we live happy together. We don't care how English good or bad. We like to make friends.
I have set my goal to keep my snake hobbies focus on the Ball. I have my wife's agreement to use one of my room to use for the snakes. It is my another step.
Cheers
