Ciddian, he's over 5'. Maybe at around 64" or so. I haven't reliably measured him in some time.
Malcontent, I don't think you'll find any California kings (L.g.californiae) with red in them, however there are many many other ssp. with red. Also California mtn. kings (L. zonata) could be what you're thinking of.

It was pretty cool temp. wise when I was leaving for Tampa so I put the light a bit closer to my rack, 3 days later when I got back it was really much warmer out and I felt the tub, it was really hot so I think its because of over heating.
