1 loss due to dehydration*Pictures may be graphic to some viewers*

Hey

My first clutch of eggs were in 2 boxes. In one of the box there was dehydration but was able to save that one egg that has collasped. All the eggs in that box is fine. In my second box another egg has been dehydrated and has sunken in pretty deep. Tried to save it but a week later it started to mold and it was clear that the egg has died.

For experience purpose and learn purposes I opened the egg to see if the egg has started to develop. It certainly had. The other eggs right now are fine and they are due to hatch day I can tell. Eggs have doubled in size. All they need to do is sweat for me so I can stop worrying.

here are 2 pictures of the disection.
NOTE:*I was 110% sure it was dead and there was no way it could have been saved, the picture does show dehydation happening*

O ya I forgot to mention that these were the ones in the incubator. The ones that are not...are doing much better and no problems have arised. So suggest for others to use the cloest method

I havnt been following, but how are you incubating the eggs that aren't in an incubator? And what kind of incubator did you use for the ones that went bad?

Well its not the fact there something wrong with the incubator. I used an incubator for higher temps and for experimental purposes. I made the incubator my self with a water tank heater and a cooler. The problems with higher temps is there not as healthy and as strong as the ones in my closet.

What are the temps in your closet like?
Do you have something to raise the humidity in the closet?
What are the eggs in?
sorry to be so intrusive but details are the key. I dont want to mess up if I have success with breeding my pair.

Hey

I dont have a temp gauge at home so Im not sure. The only thing I do to raise the humdity is add water. But other then that I dont need anything else to raise the humdity. The pictures at the bottom are 2 incubation setup I have.

This is a foam box that I got from a pet shop.

How it looks like at the top

The plastic thing is to put more eggs if they come.

The 2nd clutch of eggs

This is my homemade incubator made of a fish tank heater

This is my frist clutch of eggs, in my homemade incubator

Ok sorry, but the first one in the box. Is that just the eggs in the container placed in the styrofoam box with nothing else. And then placed in the closet?
Do you put any holes in your egg containers or do you just open once in a while for fresh air?
Just want to make sure I got last detail so I dont make an mistakes.

thanks meow

yes the first box is just the ggs in a conatiner placed in styrofoam box in a closet. I didnt punch any holes because there is a gap around the opening. Enought air to pass through. In my sencond incubator there are holes in the containers
