Talking Goliath Bird Eaters

I'm thinking about getting my bf a Goliath for X-Mas. I saw one in a mall pet store (couldn't resist just looking) and they had one for $250 (U.S.$$). How much should a young one normally cost? Do you think I'd have much luck looking for one in specialty shops or should I just purchase one online? I've never done that before, how safe, expensive, etc. is it? What size tank would I need, and what would I be feeding a youngin'? Thanks for any answers to these question!

If you buy spiderlings from breeders you get get em pretty cheap depending on species. You would just need to be carefull with humidity. Feed small crix. Here is an excellent web site with LOTS of spiderlings available, most are even captive bred! http://www.swiftinverts.com/

and http://atshq.org/bb/

good luck finding one.
