community lizards/snakes

I have a 30 gallon tall aquarium

2.5ft long, 1ft wide, 1.5ft tall

I want to make a little jungle for a group of lizards or snakes!

What would be some good combinations of lizards for a community setup? If this is even possible to mix different species of lizards.

Also, if I can only have one type of lizard/snake, then what species and how many of them could I keep in a tank of the size specified above.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated! Please post your opions on the types of lizards/snakes I can have as a little group for my tank.

would they interact with each other all day? Or are they nocturnal reptiles?

They are nocturnal. For a mixed cage I think you choices might be limited. What about some amphibians and fish maybe?

Most reptiles are nocturnal, but cresties are a blast to watch.

Otherwise, mixing species is not usually a good idea, as different species can come from different areas, requiring different temperatures or humidity among other things, and they carry different kinds of intestinal flora, which isn't great for the other animals in such a confined space.

I just gave away my fish so I could get a snake or another reptile. I currently have an albino leopard gecko. Vibrant yellow in color, looks awesome!

I believe you can keep night lizards, grass lizards and rough green snakes togther. They all eat crickets and as long as you give them proper heating and humidty that would be fine. My local pet store has a display set up like that and it looks pretty neat. I was actually surprised thier was a snake out thier that ate crickets. The only thing is thier all very small and not handable.

You can make some really nice setups with alot of other smaller reptiles if you want something you can interact with. That tank size gives you alot of options as far as the different species you could keep ( geckos, skinks, smaller pythons and boas, and some of the smaller colubrids, just remember for those species you can't mix and match like you can with the three I mentioned above and snakes don't do well housed togther so I'd avoid it. I'm not as firmilar with lizards but I know males will usually fight so avoid that too). Do some research and read around the site thiers mountains of info around that you'll find useful. Also I'd check out the enclosure forums if I were you, thiers alot of nice setups and it might give you some ideas.
I'll e-mail you the names of the lizards my pet store has togther because I can't remember right now.

Here are some links that should steer you clear away from mxing species. You are oputtng your herps in jeopardy if you choose to mix... most if not all mixes end in some sort of disaster. Here are the links. read them! It will save the lives of whatever animals you decide to keep.

That should be fine... make sure you only have one male though, as multiple males will fight.

If you are looking for lizards that can be kept together and are active during the day you could always get some anoles. They are cheep, easy to care for and are awsome to watch.
