Anyone Interested?
I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in a stylish traveling carrier for reptiles. Here is what they would look like:
I got it for Christmas and modified it a little so that it would be suitable to cart my little gecko around in. Like to reptiles shows ect. If there is interest in them I will try to get more and bring them to the next reptile show in Calgary and the Lower Mainland.
They are 100% escape proof so you could use them for anything. Snakes, Frogs, Geckos or even a Siamese Fighting Fish.
So just wanted to know if anyone would be interested and what you would think you would pay for something like this.
Thanks
Alecia

I could see a retail price of 17-45 dollars depending on the materials used to make it. Honestly it's a good idea and a "tacky" one at the same time. It's good idea for the fact that it looks nice and can house a lil herp easily. It's "tacky" because who would need to spend that kind of money on something a box could do just as easily? I mean how offtine does one say "hmm I gotta get some toilet paper
and catsup, I KNOW! I should bring my gecko along with me!
Is there a market for it? sure
would I buy it? not at all
I just can see a reasoning behind it that cant me met with spending a substantualy less amount of money/or even using something free.
But as I said, if LV can sell bags for dogs I dont see why you cant sell a simple cage for a small herp. Good luck.

I use that same thing to transfer my leopard gecko eggs from my girl friends house to my house. They are pretty nifty little things. That's a great idea you've got there. I'm sure if a breeder were to set up a stand and offer those with their animals for an extra 10.00 there would be atleast 20 people who bought it. Not a bad idea, but like was said I wouldn't buy it since my Wal Mart has those and I could just do the holes my self but it is cool.

Personally it's not something I would use for transporting. I like to keep them warm and tight. Also if you droped that thing there would be no protection. In a styro there is cushion from both the styro itself and the newspaper packing inside. What you have there is simply a fancy critter keeper that even the dollar store sells now.
Yes it's nice but not practicle. Like I said you would get the same functionality out of using a critter keeper.
Cheers,
Trevor

Also, would the gecko not get extremely stressed out being exposed to so much light and being able to view everything? There's nowhere for the poor thing to hide.... I also don't see why you need to cart your gecko around, but very good idea.. Looks nice.

I think everyone missed the part about going to shows. It's a fun way to display at reptile shows other than plastic or rubbermaids. It also depends on the personality of the individual animal. I know 100% it's not as practical as it is fun. I'm wanting to do other designs as well. I think it would be great to keep a Betta in or a young pacman frog, ext. I'm just gonna have fun with it.
Lioness- There are holes drilled at the back of the container for air.

Looks nice but why pay 20-40 bucks on a carrying case? You could use a deli cup or bad which costs next to nothing. IMO it's the herp that counts not the container.

I have one of those cases i use as a makeup case, and on a number of occasions the clasp came undone and everything spilled out. I wouldn't trust animals in them.
