nosy be breeding
obviously anyone can answer but this question goes out mainly to meow.
Now when I introduce my chams for the first time, what should I expect for reactions from the female? Is it going to be a ruff ritual where he beats her up and pins her down savagly, or will she run away abit then just give in?
I let them see eachother for a couple mins the other day, and she did not look impressed at all. Throught was sticking out like ive never seen before and got really tall and flat to make herself look bigger. Obviously not ready yet, or is this a regular reaction all the time?
Any tips on mating these two would be highly appreciated.
Wont be mating till prob april, oh yes also meow where you able to find your wieght charts from when you bred your nosy bes?
thank you all
peace

First rule - if you get any babies every herper in Winnipeg and the surrouning area gets one

Hey
Umm again all chameleons are different and will react differently. Anyone that breeds panthers will give you a different answer. When my male broke into her cage I didnt really get to see much. All I saw was that the male was chasing her, no biting or anything. When they were actually mating the male would grip on to her like crazy and it looks like its hurting the female, but after they mated she was fine. When the male was chasing the female I saw no bite marks or anything, so i think it went pretty well. I suggest that you stop letting her see the male, it causes stress on the female which is not to good.(just a suggestion). When my female was gravid, and i took out the male to give him his normal check up the female saw and flipped out, hissing etc, but i never let it happen again. Causing unneeded stress is not so great for the eggs, i figured.
Tips:
Try to avoid giving her stress
Be there when breeding, cause anything can go wrong!(even though nothing has gone wrong but it could happen)
Make sure there both healthly and youll get great results
I'm sorry I was unable to find the weight when she was gravid. I should really keep those in a safe place.
Meow

Typically females panthers give a visual notice that they are recepetive. Usually you will see pinkish hue's in the body color.
The best thing to do is give the male weekly visits to the female. When you don't get much of a reaction from the female let the male go into her cage. Be nearby incase the meeting doesn't go nicely. If the female is receptive most male will approach slowly to see the reaction of the female. If there is no reaction on the females part some males will charge as fast as they can while others will keep a slow and steady pace towards the female.
Some males can be aggressive breeders. I have seen males bite females even though the female is not resisting. Most of the time it is nice and peaceful though.
The male will hold onto the female by grabbing her. Yes it looks painful to the female but I doubt it is hurting her. I think Trace has some pics of the lateralis majors mating. The much smaller female carried the huge male on her back. She climbed the screen with him on her.
Most importantly if they do mate and it is rough do not split them up while mating. You will cause severe dmage to the males hemi-pene.

awsome thanks alot guys.
As for giving one to every herper in manitoba I know you were joking but I will have to say, there will be a small test before you can buy any reptiles of mine. I will not sell to someone just because they have the money.
I will also be building a custom cage for every baby, to ensure I know they are least started off on the right track. They will be built according to the needs of the customer.
I was thinking of charging 350 to 400 per baby which would include the price of a regular sized enclosure. Anything bigger and more elaborate will of ourse be extra.
Now I know I am counting my chickens before they hatch, but I have nothing but confidence in myself to make this work.
ALso if I dont show the female to the male once in a while how am i suppossed to know if she is ready to mate. That doesnt really make much sence to me, considering its not like they only run into eachother durring the breeding season in the wild. They live virtuly stress free lives so alittle blood flowing once in a while cannot be that bad. if they could see eachother all the time that would be a probleme. BUt I think you know what I mean.
thank you all for your help
manitoba herps youll be the first one to know when the eggs are layed. lol
peace
