Angry Just a concern...

Okay so what`s going on with everyone....?

I`m just wondering what everyones feelings are on the amount of argueing going on in threads lately...

"sSnakeSs.com .............. We pride ourselves in our friendly, family like member base that can be found in our community forums. "

Was the above statement true at one point because I don`t see this atmosphere anymore....

Most likely just growing pains, things changes, pepole don't like change. It will eventually work itself out in the end. It's the life cycle of an internet forum :P

Yup, as Joey said, it's typical of any forum, especially since our tone of voice and facial expressions can not be appropriately conveyed over the internet. Things get taken wrong a lot of the time, and other times, some people think they can say anything from behind their keyboards.

The site is going through changes, and change can bring out the best or worst in anyone. The dust will settle eventually, all we need right now is to keep a friendly atmosphere going and keep in mind that we're all here for the same reason, our passion for reptiles

I think it's a combination of furstrations. The site has been absolutely inhumanly slow lately, which ruffles peoples' feathers. Jeff is away, and didn't delegate his administrative powers, so things aren't getting fixed, so people get MORE frustrated. Then feathers get ruffled with debates, and well..... then there's a dust cloud.

My guess is he's (they've) been 'absent' for a long while now and will not be returning. Which ties into my ideas as to why this site, members and not are "not up to their usual standards". Sad really this site, under responsible administration could have been great. Guess we'll have to settle for mediocre. I've been here long enough to say that, so for those of you who are inevitably going to say, "If you don't like it here, you should find a new site" get stuffed.

I've noticed that it sort of goes in spurts. There are several heated threads going for a week or so and it seems like the site is not even worth logging on to and then it just stops for a bit. Maybe it's linked to the lunar cycle or something.

Anyone else notice this?

Oh Mykee... 'get stuffed'.. LMFAO..

As far as when Jeff's coming back.. He's constantly away and has some big things going on in his life that are more important than this site right now.. Now before people go and say, 'then he should figure out what he wants to do with the site' or whatever, I assure you, Jeff cares about the site and where it's headed.. He WILL be back on a regular basis, just be patient (soo repetative).

As far as the arguments and hostility on the site.. Where?? I fail to see it.. I think people are just getting into discussions and taking some stuff out of context which just leads to heated debate.. I mean, we haven't had to close any of these threads due to them getting out of hand.. For the most part, everyone has remained civil and willing to talk/work out their problems. I must say, im impressed..

hey i may have only been here two days but ive had nothing but a good experence.... as far as i can see some ppl dont like the rules but there there for a reason... no one wants to get sued... and hey if you wanna go against rules the pm's for that... otherwise maybe its not that ppl are mad or anything... maybe its just some ppl are two comfortable with each other... im sure alot of ppl have made friends over this site as well as enimies.... but maybe the main factor is that ppl are feeling comfortable to say what they want and that doesnt fly well or it offends some ppl... and just like heather rose said things can be initally taken the rong way..... like when i first read ydnic's post i thought they sounded pretty mad for someone that was talking about argueing

p.s. YDINC i mean no offence just in case you take this the rong way i was just proving my point.... and just letting you know that i have had nothing but good experences

thank you to everyone who has helped me and will help me in the future... Great site

Are debates and arguments not what make a forum a forum? If there were no discussions then this site would be bland. As long as no one is being childish and going out of context, then debates and "talking" is the whole point of forums imo.

I’ve been here for quite a while and just love this site and its entire people. I’ve never seen people go at it to the point where they become "enemies", but then again I don’t know what goes on behind the threads (pm's)

Either way, I find this forum to definitely be one of the best I’ve ever visited!

The problems have nothing to do with the site, it's up to the members to have a clear head when posting, and to know when people are truley serious or not. If you are unsure about something just ask. I think that if you pm someone to see what they mean in a post that many of these "problems" could be handled and fixed in a mature manner. (Right Ken? lol) That's why dirty laundry and negativities aren't allowed, but pm's are there for anyone to use (obviously within reason however). As for the site being slow, well what do you expect with such a diverse and fast growing site? Problems cannot always be fixed overnight, or to everyones likings, so please be patient and wait for the problems to pass as they surely will

That's because we have an amazing moderation team who handle these type's of situations in a very timely fashion.. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not happening..

Seems to me there is a small hand full of seasoned memebers who can't help but be overly sarcastic and rude when they post. You know you are.
